The ABCs of DEI Communications
Join PRSA Puget Sound for a discussion on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) best practices for internal communications, led by Shanita Baraka Akintonde, the 2019 National Chair of the PRSA Diversity and Inclusion Committee. Shanita will share proven formulas for handling microaggressions, unconscious bias in internal communications, and embracing a diverse workplace.
Shanita is a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion TEDx speaker, trainer, and consultant who utilizes 25 years of academic, branding, and communication experience. Making history as the first Multicultural Advertising Internship Program (MAIP) awardee from Columbia College Chicago where she has taught marketing and communication courses for the past 22 years, she also was the inaugural recipient of The Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Multicultural Diversity Scholarship. She is a celebrated professor, podcast host, author, and professional speaker with clients including McDonald’s, Coca-Cola, Sprite, and Procter & Gamble.
