How'd I Get Here - A panel discussion on the powers of proactive career planning

"I am not a product of my circumstances. I am a product of my decisions."

That is a line from Stephen Covey, one of the most-read authors on personal development, most notably The Seven Habits of Effective People.

Covey's thoughts are especially true when it comes to charting one's course as a communications professional. Talk to virtually any highly successful PR person, and they will tell you their achievements came through some combination of good luck, hard work, and a ton of thoughtful career-development planning.

College doesn't teach you when it is time to make a jump from an unhappy work situation, how to ask for a raise, or how to tactfully merchandize your success to others. Experience - and learning from others with strong navigation - helps immensely.

Join us November 2nd, where you will have the opportunity to hear from a panel of our region's communications superstars about how they charted the progression of their careers, and how they answered the questions that we all face as we map out our professional development.

Please join us to for a candid, informal conversation with:

  • Rob Discher, Director of Communications and Public Affairs at REI
  • Brandie Gonzales, Director of Corporate Communications and PR at Rover.com
  • Adam Sohn, Director of Communications at Amazon

In addition to hearing from our panelists, this 90-minute program will allow plenty of time for you to ask questions, and gain the benefit of our panelists' experience.

Program moderated by Dan Lee, PR Talent.

Join us for this conversation from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at the South Lake Union Discovery Center: 101 Westlake Avenue North, Seattle, Washington 98109.

Price: $20 for PRSA members | $25 for non-members
Prices at the door increase $10 per person

Register online or call the PRSA office at 206-623-8632
